Curious Objects is a project of David G Yu and Gretchen Wustrack to explore unexpected experiences and unique interactions enabled by new technology.
David G Yu is a technologist, musician and artist.
David is a research and development engineer at Pixar Animation Studios. For over 15 years David has been working to build interfaces and systems which extend the creative reach of digital artists, animators, lighting designers and virtual camera operators.
David has collaborated on large-scale immersive art installations with Five Ton Crane, an arts group based in Oakland, CA.
David studied Film Production and Computer Science at University of California, Santa Cruz.
Gretchen Wustrack is a designer, artist, educator and entrepreneur.
She is the founder of Curiosity Atlas, a design firm focused on sparking creativity and innovation with inspiring, immersive experiences. She helps her clients find inspiration and learn from fields such as jazz improv, wine pairing, avant garde opera and children’s museums.
Prior to Curiosity Atlas, Gretchen spent 11 years at global design firm, IDEO, leading multi-disciplinary design teams in creating innovative offerings and large-scale installations for an international client base.
Gretchen is a painter, photographer and perpetual student. She is currently mastering the Japanese art of kokedama, the Korean art of kimchi and the Cuban art of salsa dancing.
Gretchen also teaches design methods and design thinking at the Stanford d.school.
Gretchen holds a BS with Honors in Industrial Design from Art Center College of Design and a BA in Economics from Stanford University.
